When can I sign up for a tour?Tours will begin June 2021. Consider signing up for our mailing list for updates!
-
Which tour is best for me?Riding an eBike is different than riding a normal bike because it uses battery powered pedal assistance that allows you to ride further and go up even the biggest hills easily. However, based on how often you ride and your skill level, one tour may be more suitable for you than others. Safe riding is our number one priority and our tours are led on carefully selected routes. All tour guests are expected to be comfortable riding with a small group of riders on the street with vehicle traffic while following the rules of the road. The Sagaponack Sunset Tour is best suited if you occasionally ride bikes for fairly short distances. We recommend the Shelter Island Tour for someone who is comfortable riding on a leisurely half-day bike ride. Our Montauk Tour, which rides both on the street and off-road trails is suitable for riders who are more experienced and adventurous, although these riders would enjoy any of our other tours, too!
-
Do I have to be an avid cyclist to enjoy your tours?Absolutely not! However our tours range from approximately 14 miles to approximately 30 miles and run from 2 hours up to 4 hours, including the orientation. If you’re not sure that you can do a longer tour, we recommend that you try the Sagaponack Sunset tour first.
-
Do I have to attend the fitting and orientation?Yes! It’s critical that you attend this so that you can get properly fitted to an eBike and learn about the controls. It is very important that you arrive a few minutes early, or on time, so that the tour is not delayed. Riders late for the scheduled 30 minute orientation and fitting risk forfeiture of tour ride.
-
What is the procedure for the day of the tour? After you book a tour, you will receive an email explaining the orientation, what is provided and what to wear. The tour guide will greet you at the designated location and fit each guest to a bike, adjusting important bike functions for a safe and comfortable fit. After that, street safety and tour safety guidelines will be discussed. Guests will be given the opportunity to get familiar with their bikes before the actual start . Any concerns will be addressed by the tour guide prior to the start. Our tours will leave on time . Generally, we cannot wait for guests who arrive late and jeopardize the tour schedule.
-
Can I bring my own eBike? No, as we cannot be responsible for the mechanical integrity of your personal bike. Our tour guides are experienced mechanics, however they cannot perform lengthy mechanical repairs on personal bikes as it may jeopardize the time frame of the tour. We offer meticulously maintained premium European eBikes to our guests.
-
Do I have a choice of eBikes to ride?We have reserved for all guests the Gazelle Ultimate C380 (in three different frame sizes). This is our standard ebike for all tours, and is a premium ebike imported from the Netherlands.
-
How do I operate an eBike? An eBike is like a regular bike, only better, but it also has an electric motor, and a battery. The battery has a range of 25 to 40 miles, depending on how much you pedal and how much assist you use. The eBike requires that you pedal, just like a regular bike, but the battery gives you extra power. The bikes have four levels of assist. If you are doing one of our longer tours, we recommend you use a lower pedal assist. The battery has enough capacity for you to enjoy a tour, but if you use all of the battery, you can still pedal the eBike like a regular bike.
-
What should I bring on the tour?Electric Bikes A Go Go provides a helmet (feel free to bring your own!) and bottled water. Each eBike has a small zippered handlebar bag for your cell phone, wallet and keys. It’s mandatory to wear clear glasses or sunglasses and we recommend that riders wear comfortable closed-toed shoes and a windbreaker. During cooler weather, a jacket and gloves are advisable and will make the ride more enjoyable. Avoid long, flapping dresses, high heels, flip flops or heavy backpacks. If you'd like to bring anything else (snacks, a water bottle, sunscreen, etc.), make sure to bring a small backpack!
-
What happens if I can't complete the tour?If for any reason a guest must leave the tour early, we will ensure that they can return to the starting point safely by taxi/UBER. No one will be left alone. We will secure the eBike and call a taxi/UBER. This may delay the tour a few extra minutes but we’re sure the rest of our guests will understand. Our priority is the safety and comfort of our guests.
-
What happens in the event of a mechanical problem with the eBike? All of our eBikes are brand new and professionally maintained, so major mechanical issues are very rare. Our guides are expert cyclists and mechanics, and can handle most minor emergency road repairs. If a serious mechanical problem on one of our eBikes prevents our guest from continuing on the same eBike, we will supply our guest with another eBike.
-
What are the safety guidelines? Our tours are designed to be safe, fun and comfortable for our guests, so the following guidelines must be observed: Riding a bike is like riding a car - the same basic rules of the road apply. Obey traffic signals and signs. Pay close attention to other vehicles at all times and yield to any traffic that’s already on the road. Always ride single file on the right half of the road. You must respect other bikers and pedestrians — especially pedestrians, as they have the right of way. Yield before entering a bigger road or turning. Look back and to the side before proceeding. Follow the tour guide in a group. Stop when he/she stops. You cannot separate from the tour. No talking, texting or posting on a mobile phone or using a camera while the eBike is in motion. Wait until you are fully stopped.
-
Can children ride on the tour? All guests must be 16 or older to participate. Children under the age of 18 require a parent's permission to ride the tour.
-
What if the website shows the tour is full or I want to do a tour on a day or a time that's not listed? Can you still accomodate me?Please contact us if the tour is full. Occasionally there will be a last minute cancellation. We can take your contact information and place you on a waiting list. If you don't see a tour day or time that works for you, please contact us. We will make every effort to accomodate you.
